A quick introduction

Hi Australia, Thank you so much for your time. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.
My name is Lukas Eksteen. I am the South African born, and newly appointed General Manager of Australia’s Ocean Health Systems. Taking a quick look across the information technology landscape we can see the axis of business and business needs are changing.

The ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’ has created an extremely different business environment for companies all over the world, completely digitizing much of the way we approach business operations. This was compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic which forced many organisations to change their market methodology and come up with forward-thinking approaches to working digitally. This included exploring new ways to deliver healthcare solutions during a global public health crisis.

As a result, the team behind Ocean Health Systems have worked hard to develop a fresh approach and improve solutions in an extraordinarily short timeframe.

I feel a sense of pride in and admiration for all the incredibly skilled members of the Ocean Health Systems team that work to take our solutions to market. From the moment you join a call with any member of the team, you will know they are some of the brightest, most ambitious individuals you will ever come across. This is at the forefront of Ocean Health System’s attention.

Our vision is to be the destination point for smart approaches to data, our core purpose is to use quality health data to support an enable people every day.

With the COVID-19 pandemic putting an abrupt halt to human communication and interaction, throwing us all into uncharted territory, I am extremely passionate about finding innovative solutions to bring into this “New World”. The challenge we all face is to find solutions, that give people the ability to share data in a highly impressionable way.

In a recent article by Inaki Ereno, group CEO of Bupa, he discussed how telehealth and digital health services have become so important in these challenging times.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a prime solution to process a large volume of data to show connections, making it easier to understand and find what different treatments could work, or what alternative approaches to pursue.
